Korean Society of Critical Care Medicine (KSCCM) will hold its 36th conference at the Gwanggaeto Convention Center, Sejong University from Friday & Saturday, April 21 and 22, 2017. Authors are encouaged to submit an abstract for presentation at the 36th meeting before February 28, 2017 (24:00 am). Please read the following instructions for abstract submission.

☞ Please be noted that abstracts will be accepted by the above deadline and any submitted abstract cannot be revised after this deadline.

Instructions for abstract submission

Ⅰ. Submission: Abstracts should be written in Korean or English, following the style guidelines below,
and submitted online at http://event2.ksccm.org/eng/

II. Presentation format: Oral, poster and Korea-Japan symposium (oral or poster)
III. Guidelines for abstracts

1) Once the language of your presentation is decided (Korean or English), the title, affiliation, author name and text of your abstract should be written in the same language.

2) An abstract should not contain more than 1,000 characters (equates to 180 words) in Korean and 2,000 characters
   (equates to 300 words) in English.
3) The content of an abstract should be discussed in order: purpose, methods, results and conclusion.

- Abstract written in Korean
• The title should not exceed 50 characters (100 byte) in Korean.

• The text should be structured with the headings of background, materials and methods, results
and conclusion, with each beginning a new paragraph.
The text should not exceed 1,000 characters including spaces with a maximum of 2 references.


- Abstract written in English
• The title should not exceed 100 letters (100byte)

• The text should be structured with the headings of background, methods, results and conclusion,
with each beginning a new paragraph.
The text should not exceed 2,000 characters including spaces with a maximum of 2 references.

• The full name of author should be written.(e.g. Hong Gil dong)

4) A case report should be structured with the headings of introduction, case presentation and conclusion
in the text and should not exceed 1,000 characters including spaces.

5) The text can include up to 2 figures and tables, each not exceeding 200 characters (400 byte).

• Abstract written in Korean: A figure and a table included in the text should not exceed 800 characters
(1,600 byte). The inclusion of two figures or two tables should not exceed 600 characters (1200 byte).

• Abstract written in English: A figure and a table included in the text should not exceed 1,600 letters
(1600 byte). The inclusion of two figures or two tables should not exceed 1,200 letters (1200 byte).

6) If the above limits on the number of characters are not met, any extra characters (byte) shall be deleted
automatically.
Please make sure that you check the number of characters in your abstract while entering the text and
use the preview function to check the entire abstract before submission.

7) After submitting your abstract, check the status of your abstract using the menu 'Abstract registration status.'
(The revision of submitted abstracts will be accepted by the submission deadline)

8) Seven minutes are allocated for oral presentation, 3 minutes for discussion.

9) Presentation slides should be prepared as MS Power point file, and speakers are requested to use a
beam projector.

10) Speakers are requested to submit their abstract before the early bird registration deadline.

11) Once an abstract is selected for presentation, its author will be notified via email of information
on presentation such as time, sequence, date and place.
Therefore, a contact email should be entered at the time of submission.
The use of a Hanmail account is not recommended because it can be treated as spam and will not
be opened.

12)The authors of outstanding abstracts selected for oral presentation will present their findings in the English oral presentation session at the Korea-Japan symposium, in addition to an oral presentation in Korean.

13) The presentation format of submitted abstract may be modified by the reviewers of KSCCM. Checking
the review results is therefore necessary to prepare a presentation.

14) If an author of abstract selected for presentation fails to present (post) his or her abstract in the session and
the time assigned, and the respective abstract will not be considered as one of KSCCM’s subspecialty
presentations.


Poster Presentation: Friday April 21, 2017 13:00 ∼14:00

1. Authors will give an oral presentation after posting their abstracts on the boards. Each oral presentation
will be followed by discussion.

2. Poster boards have a dimension of 900 x 1,500 mm (A poster panel cannot be exhibited)

3. Presenting authors are requested to post their abstracts on the boards.
※ Poster Presentation: Friday April 21, 2017, 13:00∼14:00. All abstracts should be posted until 08:00 a.m.
on the same day.

4. All abstracts will be numbered sequentially in the abstract book and on the upper left side of the poster
board to indicate the sequence of presentation.
Therefore, a single number will be assigned to each abstract.

5. Seven minutes are allocated for oral presentation, 3 minutes for questions and discussion
(Presentation will be made during this time under moderator's assistance.)

6. Stationery and thumb tacks will be available at the exhibition hall.
7. Please make sure that your abstract on the poster is easily readable at a distance of about 2 m

8. Presenting authors are requested to remove their posters by 18:00 on the same day after presentation.
(Any uncollected posters will be removed by KSCCM.

9. Once an abstract is selected for poster presentation, its author will be notified via email of information
on presentation such as sequential number, date, presentation time and place.
Therefore, a contact email should be entered at the time of submission.


PREVIEW ROOM
KSCCM will operate a preview room to enable a smooth presentation session.
1) Available time and place: Friday & Saturday, April 21 - 22, 2017, 07:00∼17:00
2) Submission of presentation slides: An hour before presentation practice
3) Steps to be taken:
① Submit slides → ② Check submitted slides (edit or revise) → ③ Practice presentation →
④ Complete presentation
4) Notes
(1) Presentation slides should be submitted as Power point file.
(2) Presentation slides should match the content of submitted abstract.
(3) Presentation slides should be submitted to the person in charge of the Preview Room.
(Slides will not be accepted at the Exhibition Hall where presentation will take place)
