Dear Colleagues

On behalf of the organizing committee, we cordially invite you to the 13th Congress of the Western Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine (WPACCM), which will be held on June 10-13, 2004 in Seoul, Korea.

The Western Pacific Association covers the countries on the Western Pacific Rim, including Australia, China, Hong Kong China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Once every two years delegates from this region come together to share information and learn from each other about critical care medicine under the auspices of the Western Pacific Association of Critical Care Medicine.

The 13th Congress of the WPACCM will focus on the "Mutual Understanding and Development in the WPACCM" and provide a strong content covering agonizing subjects in our daily practice. A world-renowned, multidisciplinary faculty will gather to present concepts and data about critical care medicine. There will also be the 6th Asia Pacific Consensus Conference on Critical Care Medicine about "Management Guideline of Sepsis in Asian Countries" and a pre-congress symposium about ventilator strategies in patients with various conditions of respiratory failure on the afternoon of June 10, 2004. Seven plenary sessions, various symposia, case discussions, pro/con debates, and workshops will cover hot and current issues of critical care. In addition to an emphasis on clinical practice, the 13th Congress of the WPACCM will throw light on basic sciences.

The congress will provide much time and meeting space for oral and poster presentations. We welcome your abstract submission and active participation in the presentations. To encourage research, the scientific committee will choose and give the Young Investigator Award to pre-selected presentations.

Industry supported Luncheon Seminars and the Exhibit Hall provide you with numerous opportunities to interact with the latest cutting edge technology in ICUs.

In addition to the scientific program, we will provide fantastic and interesting social programs that include Gala Night on a cruise boat on Hangang (River) and Welcome Reception. Through the tour programs, the congress participants will have a chance to see and experience the beauty that Korea offers.

We sincerely look forward to your participation and invaluable contribution at this meaningful gathering in Korea.

With our warmest regards,
Sung Soo Park, MD
President
